About The Annual Turkey Drive
The Heart of Camden Turkey Drive has been a staple in the Neighborhood of Waterfront South for over a decade! The Heart of Camden has been able to assist families in enjoying a wonderful meal each thanksgiving for the last ten years. The sole purpose of the annual Turkey Drive is to assist in feeding the families of Waterfront South with a meal so that their families can get together and truly cherish the people gathered around their tables. With the help and support of hundreds of donors and volunteers we always aim to spread the Holiday spirit to the families of Camden each November in our Annual Turkey Drive. Last year we fed 400 families and our annual goal is always “One More than Last Year” so we are attempting a minimum of 401 meals for our friends this year! Help us in feeding the wonderful people of Waterfront South this Thanksgiving!

Why Do We Hold The Turkey Drive In Camden?
In New Jersey, 919,030 people are struggling with hunger and of them 268,080 are children. Camden has the highest poverty rate of any municipality in the state at 39.9 percent. We are asking for all to focus on Camden this Thanksgiving and assist in feeding our friends a meal where families get together. We want to thank God for this meal and cherish the people gathered with us for a special day of giving. A thanksgiving meal should be the beginning of the holiday celebrations with our families and we are humbly asking that you help us make this happen in Camden this year. This event is being held in the Heart of Waterfront South at the Michael J. Doyle Fieldhouse! The Michael J. Doyle FieldHouse was built with the WaterFront South community in mind and we see no better use for it than to bring the entire community together for a time of giving for the holidays.
Where We Get The Food:
We purchase all of our food locally in Camden (Aldi), transport the meals to the site and distribute the meals at Heart of Camden the same day. We aim to purchase a full thanksgiving day feast for each and every family!
The People We Help
Our Annual Turkey Drive Supports The Amazing People of WaterFront South, Camden. Last year we fed 400+ families. Most important, 100% of all monies raised goes into this program. These wonderful people are the mothers, fathers, daughters and sons of Camden!
Our Goals Each Year
Our annual goal is always “One More than Last Year”.Our goal in 2020 is to feed a family of four with a meal cost of approximately $27.00 each. We Aim To Feed a minimum of 401 Meals to the families of WaterFront South in 2020.
